Our office,
as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommends that your
child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday. Our entire staff is devoted
to making your visit as pleasant as possible. Our goal is to provide
excellent dental care in a psychologically-pleasant manner for you as
well as your child. As a pediatric dental office, we see only children and
teenagers and try to build our entire office environment with them in mind.
At your child's first visit we will discuss with you your reasons for
visiting us and the planned sequence of that examination appointment.
Whether x-rays are taken will depend upon your child's needs and this will
be discussed with you. Your child's past medical and dental history will be
reviewed. Any needed treatment will be discussed with you in detail,
including an estimate of costs. Treatment is usually not completed at the
first visit unless there are immediate needs. Every effort will be made to
make your child's first visit as pleasant as possible. This helps us gain
your child's trust.
Some children may do better with a parent accompanying them to the treatment area, while others may do better without a parent present. This will be discussed with you, and we would like you to share your feelings about this right from the start.
After a thorough exam, a written treatment plan is given to you with procedures and fees itemized. Preventive oral hygiene will be reviewed...every effort must be made to prevent future dental disease.
Please be assured that our office will meet or exceed infection control policies outlined by the American Dental Association, Centers for Disease Control, and OSHA.
To help make your child's visit as positive as possible, your positive attitude will go a long way in reducing any fears that your child may have. When discussing dentistry with your child, avoid trying to explain the specifics. It is very important to avoid fear-provoking words. We want your child to grow up with a very positive feeling about going to the dentist. Please call us if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you and your child.
We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!
